askmyGP is a service where patients can benefit from faster easier online access to request a consultation with a GP and in future other healthcare professionals, for non-emergency medical or other matters. Visit our askmyGP service to request a consultation or ask a question at any time and receive a call back within askmyGP request hours.
Both routine and urgent appointments are available - we encourage continuity of care so please ask for an appointment with the GP who has previously dealt with your problem or who is your usual doctor.
To book an appointment call in at the surgery or telephone:
01684 293278 - lines are open from 08.00 - 18.30 Monday to Friday
Routine GP appointments can also be booked online via the Systmonline link above.
We will always offer you an appointment the same day if urgent, but please do not use this system for non-urgent problems; its abuse will cause problems for patients in genuine need. If you feel you have an urgent problem please telephone the surgery as soon as possible in the morning. You will be asked what the problem is and whether you feel the problem requires a face to face appointment or whether telephone advice is sufficient. You will then be booked with the most appropriate clinician.
We offer a mix of urgent face to face appointments and urgent telephone advice appointments so please do ask for a telephone call if you just require advice.
Debra Bayliss (our highly exprienced nurse practitioner) runs our acute illness clinic and if your problem is suitable we will book you a slot in this clinic.
Our standard length of appointment is 10 minutes. If you have a problem that is likely to be particulary time-consuming, please book a double appointment. Please also inform the receptionist if you are booking a 'special' appointment such as a smear, injection or medical so they can allocate the correct time. You can help us give each of your problems the attention they require by trying to avoid bringing several problems to one 10 minute appointment. Please try to make separate appointments.
You can improve the continuity of your care by arranging further appointments about a particular problem with the same doctor each time (wherever possible).
Extended Hours Appointments
We offer appointments at times beyond our usual surgeries which may fit in better for patients that wish to be seen outside of their working day. You can book an appointment on Mondays between 6.30 and 7.30 p.m. and Thursdays between 6.30 and 7.30 p.m.
Online Appointment Booking
You can also book routine GP appointments online via our SystmOnline platform(which also includes several other functions). Click here for further information including details on how to obtain a username or access SystmOnline via the link at the top of this page.
Please note online appointment booking is currently limited to routine GP appointments only. If you feel your problem is more urgent then please telephone the surgery. We are also currently unable to offer nurse appointments online as the length of appointment needed with the nurse varies depending on what the appointment is about.
We will always see any young child with an acute illness on the day. Please ensure that you make the receptionist aware of any specific features of your child’s problem which are causing concern.
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly.
It is possible to book a telephone call for follow-up advice or to talk through your results (as indicated by your doctor or nurse). Please ask to book a telephone appointment slot with the appropriate person and they will call you during that morning or afternoon.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
