Extended Hours

The practice also offers a number of appointments outside normal opening hours. These are held at:

  • 18:30 – 20:00 on Mondays and Thursdays
  • 08:30 – 12:30 every other Saturday

Improved Access Service

Since October 2017 the following practices have been participating in a scheme to offer seven-day access to routine GP and practice nurse appointments across our locality:

  • Mythe Medical Practice (The Devereux Centre, Tewkesbury)
  • Church Street Medical (The Devereux Centre, Tewkesbury)
  • Holts Health Centre (Newent)
  • Staunton Surgery (Staunton)

This means that appointments will be available at one of the above practices out of normal working hours between Monday and Friday and at weekends. The Devereux Centre will be providing the following service:

  • Mondays from 18:30 to 20:00, Mythe Medical Practice
  • Tuesdays from 18:30 to 20:00, Church Street Medical
  • Wednesday from 18:30 to 20:00, Church Street Medical
  • Thursdays from 18:30 to 20:00, Mythe Medical Practice
  • Saturdays from 08:30 to 12:30, Mythe and Church Street alternating weekly
  • Sunday appointments are available at Gloucester Health Access Centre

Appointments are pre-bookable but please note there is no telephone access to the surgeries after 18:30 or at weekends, when the countywide out of hours service takes over.

The Newent and Staunton practices will also be offering similar availability. We hope that our patients will find this increase in access helpful particularly those people who need to book appointments outside of normal working hours.

Out of Hours Service

Out of hours is the period of time between 18:30 and 08:00 during the week and also covers weekends, bank and public holidays. If you need urgent medical treatment out of hours which cannot wait until the surgery reopens please call NHS 111. You can also use the NHS 111 online service.

Contacting this number will put you through to specially trained NHS staff member who will make sure you receive the right sort of advice and help quickly. This service is provided by Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust.

Out of hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
