Routine appointments

We encourage continuity of care so please book an appointment with the GP who has previously dealt with your problem or who is your usual doctor.

Routine appointments

Routine appointments can be done face to face or over the phone. The choice is yours. Please advise the care navigator you book with which one you would prefer. Please remember that the doctor only has a limited amount of time per appointment, so if you have multiple problems to discuss you may need to book more than one appointment. Please also inform the receptionist if you are booking a ‘special’ appointment such as a smear, injection or medical so they can allocate the correct time.

You can make an appointment by:

Enhanced Access

The following practices offer access, during the evenings and on Saturdays, to routine GP and practice nurse appointments across our primary care network (PCN):

  • Staunton and Corse Surgery
  • Newent Doctors Practice
  • Mythe Medical Practice, Tewkesbury
  • Church Street Medical Practice, Tewkesbury
  • West Cheltenham Medical, Cheltenham

You will be able to make an appointment Monday to Friday 6:30pm to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm at one of the practices above, while Saturday afternoon appointments will also be available in Gloucester.

Mythe Medical Practice are offering appointments every Monday evening and some Friday evenings, 6:30pm to 8pm and some Saturday mornings. Appointments can be booked in advance, during our usual opening hours.

*To provide the highest quality of care under this enhanced access offer, our five PCN practices have entered into a data sharing agreement which ensures confidentiality and information governance. This means that your personal medical information will only be available to the consulting clinician and will automatically be recorded in your own medical records if you are registered at another practice in the PCN. To find out more about PCNs, please watch this video from NHS England, while you’ll find our TWNS PCN page on Facebook.

Young children

We will always try and see a young child with an acute illness on the day where possible. Please ensure that you make the Care Navigator aware of any specific symptoms which are causing concern and call before 5pm if possible.

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond (we will endeavour to do this but please note it may not always be possible)
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face or by text (we will endeavour to do this but please note it may not always be possible)
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

Whilst we always encourage patients to visit the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we understand this isn’t always possible.

If you require a home visit, please contact our Care Navigation team on 01684 293 278.

Home visits are available only to patients who are housebound or too unwell to attend the practice. The on-call GP will determine whether a home visit is clinically necessary and how urgently it is needed. When requesting a visit, please be ready to provide relevant details so we can schedule your call appropriately.

Please be aware that home visits may be carried out by one of our in-house Paramedics rather than the on-call GP.

Additionally, if your GP feels you need ongoing care at home, they may refer you to a community nurse who can visit you regularly to help manage your treatment or condition.
