Covid Vaccine Update

Many of you will have seen on this morning’s news that the first Covid vaccine has now been authorised by the medicines regulator MHRA and doses could be delivered to the UK as early as next week. Whilst this is fantastic news we would like to clarify what this actually means at this stage.

The Government are hoping to roll the Covid vaccine out to the population over the coming months, but they are still finalising exactly how these vaccines will be distributed and administered.  Although surgeries like us, as well as hospitals and other venues are on standby to potentially help distribute the vaccines, nothing has been confirmed as yet.

Therefore we are NOT in a position to book patients in or allocate vaccines to those who need it, so please DO NOT call or message the surgery at this stage.

Please note that that any initial batches of vaccine that come in to the country will be allocated to care home residents and staff, NHS front line and social care workers . Therefore vaccine for the wider population may still be a number of weeks / months away.

We are being updated daily from the Government and NHS England on how and when the vaccines will be rolled out and we will inform patients once we know any firm details.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
