HOW TO ACCESS URGENT ‘ON THE DAY’ CARE AT THE SURGERY

The demand for our ‘on the day’ urgent care is greater than ever. With this in mind, we have changed how ‘on the day’ urgent care is accessed, to ensure those people with the greatest need are prioritised.

How it will work

  • You will still need to telephone the surgery to access ‘on the day’ urgent care (01684 293278). We believe that this needs to continue to be requested via our phone lines, rather than online, to ensure that it is accessible to everyone.
  • The Care Navigator you speak to on the phone will ask you a few brief questions about your medical condition, your symptoms, how long you have had the problem and what your concerns are.
  • These triage requests will be passed over to our ‘on call’ GP. This GP will then check your request alongside your medical records and notes from previous consultations, to decide the best course of action.
  • After the GP has made a decision about the required care you will be contacted. The outcome could be any of the following…
-A same day appointment with a GP or Nurse Practitioner – phone or face to face

-An appointment within the next 1-10 days with a GP or Nurse Practitioner – phone or face to face

-A routine appointment with a GP – phone or face to face

-An appointment with our in-house Musculoskeletal team

-A referral to our in-house Pharmacy team for medication issues

-A text message (where appropriate) for results, information or sign posting

  • Please note, how you book routine appointments will not change please just call the surgery as normal, but please avoid calling before 11am for routine matters.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED UNDERSTANDING AND SUPPORT
