Use of non-steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID) medications e.g. Ibuprofen and Naproxen, in relation to Covid-19

There has been a concern about the use of non-steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID) medications e.g. Ibuprofen and Naproxen, in relation to Covid-19.

Currently there appears to be no evidence that NSAIDs increase the chance of acquiring Covid-19 and the evidence that NSAIDs may have an adverse effect in those with Covi-19 remains inconclusive.

Government advisory bodies are reviewing the available data. It is therefore suggested that, in the interim, patients who have confirmed Covid-19 or believe they have Covid-19 should use paracetamol in preference to NSAIDS.

Those currently on NSAIDs for other medical reasons (e.g. arthritis) should NOT stop them.
