Patient Participation Group

Our Patient Participation group is a forum where patients and staff work together to share ideas which might help to improve the services offered by the Practice, also to help patients to take more responsibility for their own health and wellbeing.

The group meets at regular intervals to discuss developments in local health services and looks for ways to make a positive contribution t the operation and facilities offered by Mythe Medical Practice and health services in the surrounding area.

With so many changes happening in the NHS at this time it is a great opportunity to make our voice heard.

How is this done?

  • By offering suggestions and providing feedback from patients on such things as appointment systems, consultation times and on communications with patients and health information.
  • Assisting with the development of questionnaires and surveys to obtain patients views and feedback.
  • Exploring the changing needs of patients.
  • Assisting with the development for new services.
  • Offering practical help at times of Flu and Covid vaccinations, ensuring that patients are safe and comfortable.
  • Assisting with health and wellbeing education activities by the Practice.
  • Responding to surveys by the local health authorities.
  • Sharing good practice in other PPG groups in Gloucestershire.

When does the group meet?

The group meets every two months for about one and a half hours, usually in the afternoons.

How many patients are in the group?

The group aims to have a core of twelve members and is keen that these should be representative of the registered patient community.

How are the members chosen?

Members have volunteered to join and then completed a formal application and interview.

Do members of the practice attend the meetings?

Yes a Doctor and at least one senior manager are present at each meeting to provide a report and answer questions.

Does the group have any local influence?

The group also sends representatives to locality meetings looking at the wider development of health and social services in Tewkesbury and the surrounding areas.
